Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra to perform for the first time in Malaysia to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China
2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China.
In conjunction with this 50th anniversary and to commemorate this important milestone, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO), in collaboration with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), will hold its orchestra performance for the first time in Malaysia with three performances planned in August 2024.
To further celebrate the 50 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra will also include in their performances a Malaysian composition titled Kampung and the City by Malaysian composer Chow Jun Yi, and local Malaysian tunes like Azlan Abu Hasan’s Sinaran and P. Ramlee’s Getaran Jiwa.
This collaboration not only showcases the wide repertoire of the Chinese orchestral music; but also, signifies the harmony and the unity that orchestral music brings to the Malaysian audience.
The concert is sponsored by Hong Kong Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and supported by Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Professional Culture Centre Orchestra and Hui Yin Seh Association.
