Welcome Message from UTAR President
Welcome to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
As one of the major private universities in
the nation, UTAR has strong global partners, commitment to collaborative
research and publications, diverse student activities and international
exchange programmes, a wide range of academic programmes and a unique campus
learning experience. We provide vast learning opportunities, both academic and
experiential, with industry attachments and international exchanges for our
students to be prepared to eventually work in challenging work places and to
develop a more open and global mind-set. Our partnerships and collaborations
with universities and organisations around the world widen the learning
experiences and enhance inter-cultural understanding to ensure that our
students develop good cultural intelligence. Our graduates have consistently
enjoyed very high employability rates within six months of graduation and are
well received by employers.
During their studies on campus, our students are trained in soft skills through our UTAR Soft Skills Development Certificate (USSDC) Programme and are also inculcated with good values as stated in our Six Educational Pillars. We have been conducting community projects and providing voluntary services to various communities including rural schools and villages. Such activities educate our students on social responsibilities and provide them the relevant exposure as part of our efforts toward the character building of our students.
Our focus on research, through our 38 research centres, has also provided opportunities for staff and students to participate in research projects on campus and to collaborate with the industry and overseas universities. The Undergraduate Research Scheme (URS) is the university’s initiative in support of students’ participation in R&D.
As a non-profit university, we endeavour to provide quality education and to keep our fees affordable while ensuring that our students’ education is wholesome, encompassing the acquisition of knowledge as well as the building of good characters. Our academics are experienced and qualified, with many from the industry; including researchers who are actively collaborating with major companies and universities to share knowledge and resources, and to ensure that our curriculum and expertise are current and relevant.
UTAR is a university by the people for the people and we look forward to sharing our knowledge and expertise with you in our continuous efforts towards nation building and international collaborations.
